Second Jobs Are Many Peoples Solution To The Credit Crunch |

It seems that many middle-class people have had to get second jobs in order to hold their position against rising costs for petrol, food, and mortgages. This isn’t just hitting lower earning levels either. Everyone from lawyers to marketers is looking for extra ways to earn enough to get by. Capital Economics’ recent figures show a near 5% increase of people with second jobs. This amounts to roughly 56,000 people. Even this may underestimate the problem though, since many of these extra jobs are never reported to the government. The freelance market in particular is expanding as people exploit their personal skills and hobbies to earn more. Anonymous freelancer advertisers are even more popular since many employees wish to hide their outside activities from bosses. This is especially true since a lot of this new freelance work is done during office hours. Some still turn to more conventional means though. Avon is doing particularly well with a burst of 17,000 new members in their affiliate network. A few inventive people have even taken to selling lessons in everything from poker to pole dancing.
