There is a new plan for expansion at one of the biggest airports in the region. This new growth at Newcastle Airport will likely add 1,500 new jobs as a £20m project to build a new business park takes hold. This expensive deal is right on the tail of a £450,000 purchase of Samson Aviation. This business held many of the buildings to the south of Newcastle International and operated it as a private airport for small planes and helicopters. The buyout marked a historical reclamation of one of the airport’s first terminals. Regardless, Newcastle Airport will now expand as it personally handles all of the high class clientele along with a variety of emergency medical flights, military transports, and general freight that used the partner. With this new acquisition, they will fulfill a long plan that will make the 50 acres south of the airport into a better developed area. Once construction is complete it will be home to an annex for the airport’s business park along with room for better freight warehouses and hangers. A smaller development still needs to be approved, but it will eventually add on to the existing facilities with more offices and a parking complex for 450 parking spaces. UK Land Estates will be handling both new developments along with an expansion to include a new academy for aviation students. Until this time they had to rely on training at Rye Hill. This blend of training and corporate growth should mean a lot for the future of the local economy. Next news article: Second Jobs as a Solution to the Credit Crunch |
