Latest reports forecast that UK graduate vacancies are set to 'increase significantly' after two years of major cuts.According to a survey of 100 leading graduate employers, vacancies for UK graduates are set to rise by 12 per cent (1600 jobs) in 2010. The report conducted by High Fliers Research did however; warn that over a quarter of this year's vacancies had already been filled by previous graduates from 2008/2009. High Flyers Research (HFR) have warned that undergraduates from 2010 will find themselves fighting for jobs with graduates from the past two years who are still unemployed. With the worst of the recession behind us and the economic outlook improving has meant that employers across all industries are able to step up their graduate recruitment for 2010 including the banking and accountancy industries that were hit worst by the recession. The survey found that the largest recruitment drive for graduates in 2010 will be at PricewaterhouseCoopers, with 1039 graduate vacancies; this was followed by Deloitte with 1000 vacancies. The survey also found that graduate entry level salaries are not expected to rise in 2010, with average earnings remaining at £27,000. Job Centre Vacancies says: Encouraging figures for university graduates, however it would appear from the report that the market will still be tough for a university undergraduate as they vie for jobs vacancies with other grads from previous years.
