Nanny Jobs
Nanny jobs are on the increase as it becomes more common for both parents to want to pursue careers meaning they need help to care for and raise their children. But do you know what is involved in being a nanny?

The role of a nanny has evolved over time but the core responsibilities still lie with the care and development of the child. Caring for the child will normally involve maintaining a clean and hygienic environment by doing the child’s laundry and cleaning articles, items and spaces used by the child. Further to this a nanny may be required to prepare meals for the child and courier them to and from school.

Aiding the development of the child will involve helping them learn to talk, count and read along with school work for children of a certain age. A nanny will also help the social development of the child by taking them places such as the library or swimming pool so that they may interact with other youngsters of a similar age.

Nanny jobs will either be live-in or live-out with the latter seeing higher wages in general. Live-in nannies can expect a salary of between £16,000 and £22,000 while live-out nannies might receive as much as £30,000 for central London placements.

Interviews for a nanny job are quite different to those for careers in public or private firms as you are dealing with parents who have the wellbeing of their child as a priority. Some of the questions you might expect to face include:

  • Why did you choose to become a nanny?
  • What previous nanny roles have you had and why did you leave each one?
  • What would you do to entertain a child on a daily basis?
  • What type of meals would you cook our child?
  • Are you trained in first aid?
  • When did you pass your driving test?
  • What are your views on disciplining children?

To find a nanny job, the easiest way is through a nanny agency. These organisations will be able to use their experience and knowledge to help find you the perfect nanny role in as little time as possible.

So, are you still prepared to take on a job as a nanny?
