A less traditional career that is becoming more widely seen throughout the UK is one which carries a higher level of risk, but has potentially lucrative rewards as an outcome. It requires a special type of person, who can demonstrate management skills, determination and composure among many other abilities.
The life of a property investor and/or developer can be stressful and emotionally draining at the worst of times but often brings out a sense of great achievement and pride at the end of a project.
The incomes one can expect from such a life vary hugely depending on the initial investment and the level of work performed on a property. Some developers like to take on huge renovation projects while others prefer to “flip” properties that require less work quickly for lots of smaller profits. Whichever method you choose there are challenges you will have to face.
Some developers then hold onto their properties and become landlords, letting the rental income pay for the mortgage on a property and thus hope to gain from housing market rises. Others will sell as soon as the property is completed to invest the funds back into further homes.
While many investors only look towards the UK market for potential gains, it is becoming more common for individual property moguls to look abroad for even more lucrative opportunities.
With labour being cheaper in many other European countries the costs associated with renovation are less while rental prices, particularly during holiday seasons can be very high indeed.
An extremely popular destination for UK investors is Spain. With vast numbers of tourists flocking to the sunny shores there each year the demand for villas and apartments over the summer months is huge. Property in Spain is still fairly cheap in comparison to the UK and so property developing here is far more accessible as it requires smaller investment.
It is even the case that people are making their riches in property development in Spain and then choosing to buy a second home for themselves out there. You too could earn a good second income if you can find the right property, in a good location where tourists will pay many hundreds of pounds for a week’s accommodation.
